ifd design

The abbreviation IFD stands for Industrial, Flexible and Demountable. Designing based on these principles means deciding on the use of construction elements that are factory prefabricated wherever possible. The application of components produced industrially and under controlled circumstances has a favorable effect on both the functionality and sustainability of buildings, and also offers great gains in the domain of process control. Buildings can easily be expanded or decreased both internally and externally, and their arrangement can be altered without much effort. Thus, both the usability and the lifespan of buildings increase. The refuse brought about during the manufacturing of the components can be recycled directly and on the spot. Considerably less waste matter comes into being at the construction site itself, and at the end of the life cycle the materials can easily be reused. Because the production of the construction elements is industrial and the actual construction work is largely a matter of assembly, the activities on the construction site are strongly simplified and the process as a whole can be accurately planned and calculated. Cepezed not only employs existing standardized components, but, in cooperation with partners, also designs and develops them itself. Several projects of cepezed enjoy the demonstration status within the Dutch government-initiated IFD-programme.
