Extension of a laboratory building also realized by cepezed some years ago. The addition has been placed in a 45-degree angle with the existing lab. It is one storey higher than the original building, while the two visually link up by means of similar dimensions, materialization and façade rhythms. Where the two volumes incline to one another, a traffic and reception hall has been built. This covers the full height of the new construction, is completely transparant at both the front and back side and contains a lift entirely made of glass. Thus, the new entrance cum connection between the new and existing building has a very light, open and inviting character. Just as in the original building, the cleanrooms have a double height and are situated at the ground floor. The offices and other laboratories are positioned on the second through fourth storey, alongside the façades. The offices can be freely arranged and are provided with doors of hardened glass and large transparent sliding windows. The façades of the laboratories consist of band windows and strips of sandwich panels with an outer sheeting of black enamelled figure glass.
