The construction of the new, multi-tenant research building Plus Ultra at the Bio Science Park in Leiden is well underway. The main supporting structure of the low-rise has been completed. When it will soon also be roofed over, a parallel start will be made with the façades and installations of this section. In the meantime, work is also continuing on the main supporting structure of the high-rise, the first parts of which are now standing as well.

swift construction
Architectural contractor Goossen te Pas, installer of mechanical systems Instaan and installer of electrical systems JWR are working energetically. The construction of the 16,000 m2 building for a variety of biosciences companies started out this summer and will probably top out at ten floors in mid-March. Completion will take place still this year then.

prefabricated installations
A special feature is that the installations are largely delivered and installed prefabricated. All pipework for cooling and heating, including readjustment units, is already assembled in the production workshop and brought to the construction site in elements with a length of 3.60 meter. Moreover, the installations setup for the technical rooms are being prefabricated in their entirety. All equipment, including heat pumps and ATES machinery, is mounted elsewhere on frames that can easily be slid into the technical rooms once on the construction site.

second plus ultra in amsterdam
The building on the Plesmanlaan in Leiden is a development of Kadans Science Partner. In addition to flexibly lettable offices and laboratories, it will contain general facilities that will significantly contribute to meeting and the sharing of knowledge. cepezed and Kadans are now also working on a second Plus Ultra building in Amsterdam.
