prefab bruggen arsenaaldelft

ArsenaalDelft is being renovated under the guidance of cepezedbouwteam into a vibrant location with a hotel, restaurant, exhibition space and future conference center. To make this location more accessible, two new pedestrian bridges will be installed. The steel bridges designed by cepezed are prefabricated and rest on a hidden pile construction separate from the monumental quays.

sleek, elegant and lightweight

The prefabricated pedestrian bridges of thirteen and sixteen meters long fit in with the existing situation perfectly. The arc-shaped design rhymes with the countless traditional bridges in the center. The elegant, minimalistic appearance secures the view over the historic quays of the Delft.

a nod to the past

The bridges lead to the peninsula on which ArsenaalDelft is located. For decades, this complex housed the Army Museum. After the departure of the museum to Soesterberg, the complex was sold to Driestar by the central government, based on the plan by cepezed and cepezedprojects.

The material of the bridge decks is a nod to this defence past. They are namely made of Thorca; a slender, strong and rigid material that is also used in Chinook helicopters of the air force.

safe connection

To protect these monumental quays, the bridges are supported by a hidden pole construction below the water surface. The bridges connect directly to the quay level, so that the quays remain in their existing state and do not require raising. A steel runner serves as a barrier-free transition between bridge and quay.

Because the bridge itself does not take up any space on the quay wall, there is a spacious landing area between the bridge and the street. This gives pedestrians the space to cross safely.

vibrant location

ArsenaalDelft will be a vibrant place with various public functions. The new bridges facilitate access to the complex, which is located on a peninsula between two canals. One of the bridges leads to the restaurant's new water terrace. Construction of this terrace will start at the end of this month, together with the installation of the bridges.

The historical Armamentarium was the Army Museum for a long time and has recently undergone a metamorphosis. cepezed designed the plan for this, cepezed bouwteam takes care of the execution coordination, cepezedprojects is involved as the developer and Haasnoot Bruggen has done the engineering and execution.
