Jan Pesman, architect & partner

is one of the founders of cepezed in 1973. In 2018, he was named Delft Entrepreneur of the Year by the professional jury of enterprise platform Delft Verbindt.

Lucas van der Wee

Jan studied architecture at TU Delft. During his studies, he founded cepezed architecture firm together with Michiel Cohen and Rob Zee in 1973. The name of the firm is derived from the first letters of their surnames. In his graduation (a constructed house), the germ of 'cepezed thinking' had already been laid: a modular housing system with linkable prefabricated building elements and with facades of lightweight insulating refrigerated truck panels.

In 1971, Jan co-initiated the magazine for scientific entertainment Utopia, to which he remained associated as editor and designer until 1977. Pesman also co-initiated the magazine for design Items. From 1983 to 1992, he served on the editorial board. In an article for Items, he contained the agency's thinking and working methods in a plea for the 'industrial architect'.

During the 1994-1995 academic year, Jan was senior lecturer at the Academy of Architecture in Rotterdam. From 2010-2014, he was chairman of the Construction Department of the Royal Institute of Engineers KIVI NIRIA. In addition to his many activities as an architect and spatial designer, Jan gives lectures at home and abroad.
