cepezed building technologist Joost Heijnis is ambassador of the GEVEL 2020 trade fair this year. In this role, he takes visitors along in his vision on the overarching theme Modern Utopia. For the second day of the fair, January 29th, Heijnis puts together the programme of the main stage.

GEVEL 2020 responds to the rapidly changing society and its reflection in the built environment. The fair is therefore dedicated to the imagination and to technical and creative innovations: Modern Utopia. In addition to cepezed, MVRDV and Heren 5 share their vision on the city of the future as well.
adaptive façade
In his program, Heijnis draws attention to, among other things, the contradictions with which designers have to deal. “Do we flexibly move along with the city or do we create buildings with value for eternity? Do we design façades that are as transparent as possible or does new legislation force closed façades?” In Heijnis’ view, adaptive, people-oriented and environment-conscious façades are the future; façades that autonomously respond to the circumstances outside and thus meet the comfort requirements.
