prefab bridge between accelerator and genmab in place

This weekend, a 32m long bridge with prefabricated steel construction was placed between the Genmab and Accelerator buildings at Utrecht Science Park designed by cepezed. "There was only twenty centimetres of space between the buildings and the bridge on both sides, but everything went smoothly," says cepezed-architect Tim Mechielsen, who went to take a look.

With a special truck, the pedestrian bridge was transported from the steel builder in Bakhuizen (Friesland) to the construction site. "Because it is so long, it requires a permit and may only be transported at night under the supervision of an escort vehicle," says the architect. Once it arrived, the bridge was quilckly and effectively suspended between the buildings using two cranes.

multi-tenant lab building
The building of biotech company Genmab has been in use for several years. The more than 22,000 m² large Accelerator is currently under construction. Genmab will be one of the main tenants, but with flexible office, laboratory and parking space for rent and extensive general facilities such as a meeting centre, auditorium and restaurant, Accelerator also offers plenty of room for start-ups and scale-ups in the life sciences.

innovation network
With a network of innovation buildings on various science campuses, Kadans Science Partner creates an ecosystem for development and innovation. Kadans offers specific but flexible accommodation and broad opportunities for connection, inspiration and collaboration. cepezed also designs the innovation buildings Plus Ultra Amsterdam and Plus Ultra Leiden for Kadans. In addition, cepezed and Kadans are working on the redevelopment of the former Shell campus in Rijswijk.
