The construction of the new Coenecoop College in Waddinxveen was festively started yesterday afternoon. Pupil Mike was allowed to take place in the pile driver to drive the first pile. The design by cepezed will take physical shape in the coming period. With effect from the school year 2023-2024, education will be provided in a new, modern and future-proof building', according to the Coenecoop College.

difficult market conditions
Despite the corona pandemic and global material shortages caused by the war in Ukraine, the construction of the school is still on schedule. The new Coenecoop College will also be very sustainable. "A special point is that the design team has succeeded in making the building energy neutral, despite the difficult market conditions," says Willem Adriaanssen, partner at HEVO, the risk-bearing project manager.

everyone enthusiastic
The school, the alderman and the headmaster are also enthusiastic. During the festive meeting, Frank de Wit, board member of the Scala College and Coenecoop College Foundation, emphasised the good cooperation with the municipality and 'the significance of a new school building with modern facilities where students can prepare for their future'.
"It is a school where there is a place for every secondary student in our beautiful municipality," said Brigitte Leferink, alderman for education, who is pleased that the wide range of secondary education on offer in the municipality will be guaranteed. "In this new building, the strong basis of our current education is optimally facilitated", said headmaster Ivor Bergsma.

about the design
The Coenecoop College offers education to over 950 students at vmbo, havo and vwo level. The new building will have a healthy learning environment with a pleasant climate and good orientation possibilities. Sightlines are long and the green of the surrounding area runs through the atrium into the school. The largely transparent fa├žades contribute greatly to the relationship between inside and outside.
