The cepezed-designed circular restaurant and meeting centre The Green House in Utrecht is nominated for De Nederlandse Bouwprijs (The Dutch Construction Award) 2019.

In different categories, De Nederlandse Bouwprijs is awarded biennially to distinctive projects of high quality. The also cepezed-designed Westraven office of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management already won the prize in 2009.

The Green House is nominated in the buildings category. This year, the jury made its selection based on innovation and the aspects people, planet & profit, the three p’s that are common in the development of sustainable buildings. The Green House scored high on all these elements; at the initiative of cepezed, the project partners Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Albron aimed at the highest level of circularity in all fields.

The six-headed jury thinks The Green House is an ‘Impressive example project reflecting an integral approach of a circular building, ranging from social circularity to materials, energy and business models.’ The jury report continues: ‘The incorporation of circularity aspects in this building is broad based. The jury finds it striking that this building can be reused or recycled up to its foundations. The statement: “We want to make circularity mainstream”, shows courage and ambition.’

The winners will be announced Monday February 4th. For more information, see the website of De Nederlandse Bouwprijs.
