Arne Boenders, architectural engineer

Arne has been working at cepezed since 2023. The fresh energy he brings with his cheerful but also competitive attitude benefits the tender team.

Arne obtained both a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in architecture at the Technical University in Delft. He finished his master with a design for a Police Unity Office in an empty building in The Hague. He focused his research on how people, building and nature can come together and reinforce each other. The outcome was a renovation strategy that connects water, energy, nature, materials and social aspects in the neighbourhood. In this way, the building gives 'back to the environment'. The project was selected for the Archiprix 2024 Preselection.

After graduating, Arne gained work experience at a relatively small architectural firm in Rotterdam. Here, he gained an eye for detail and was involved in various aspects of a project because he worked with only two fellow architects. He brings this experience with him to cepezed.

Arne's competitive attitude comes in quite handy in the tender team, but also during his studies. With a large student team, he took part in the 'Solar Decathlon Europe 21/22', a competition aimed at bringing universities and the construction world closer together. The students designed 'the living of the future': a modular strategy to renovate existing multi-storey flats based on prefabricated elements. His team returned home with third prize.

What appeals to Arne about cepezed is its technical and structured way of working, which enables an efficient solution for complex projects. He emphasises that despite this structure, there is certainly no lack of creativity: 'That creativity lies in the "just a little bit different" which makes each project unique'. He finds cepezed a nice company to work for, not least because of the large amount of knowledge and experience of colleagues. 'Every day I learn something new.'
