Sustainable hva-health campus trough metamorphosis and expansion

hogeschool van amsterdam

A future-proof, sustainable and attractive health campus. The Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) and cepezed are pursuing that goal in the renovation and new construction of the Tania Leonhuis. Yesterday, the agreement was signed by Hanneke Reuling (Executive Board HvA) and Paddy Sieuwerts (Design Team).

vision
The Tania Leonhuis and the adjacent new building (yet to be realised) are meant for practical healthcare education. The college appreciated the attention in cepezed's vision for surrounding greenery and optimal access. The vision focuses on a building that will soon be accessible from several sides and turns towards the greenery. cepezed even proposes a new bicycle bridge. The Hogeschool van Amsterdam is pleased with the flexibility in the design process, both in terms of construction phasing and the choice of timber construction, multitenancy use and user input.

The main reason for the Hogeschool van Amsterdam to upgrade its existing accomodation is that these educational buildings are too spacious and not sustainable enough. "The new building and remodelling of the Tania Leonhuis will result in futureproof, sustainable and attractive accomodation on a safe, healthy, green and modern campus. There is also a focus on an improved connection to surrounding buildings of the AMC and with public transport," says the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, which also announced that it will vacate the adjacent Nicolaes Tulphuis upon completion of the Tania Leonhuis.

team
The project has a total area of 10,295 m² of functionally useful floor area (FNO), including 5,895 m² of new construction and 4,400 m² of renovation/redevelopment. cepezed architects, Nelissen ingenieursbureau and IMd consultative engineers form the Design Team. The first designs are expected mid-2023, with actual construction starting in 2025.

medical business park
The health campus is located next to the Medical Business Park in Amsterdam Zuidoost. A little further on, the construction of Plus Ultra Amsterdam, also designed by cepezed, is progressing.
