Asics headquarters

Sports brand ASICS was looking for new accommodation in Hoofddorp for its European headquarters. In comparison with the outdated and cramped office in another part of the district, both the functionality and the experience had to be improved. cepezed designed a modern building directly beside the railway station and the A4 motorway.

World Heritage outlook

The ASICS office has a horizontally articulated façade of strip windows and light grey enamelled glass. Underneath the building, there is a semi-sunken parking garage with more than 100 parking spaces.

The building has a direct view of the Geniedijk, which is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Japanese influences

The new building is emphatically not a flagship centre of the sports brand, but has a modest character. The emphasis is on efficiency, effectiveness and a pleasant experience for the users. In addition to the staff, this includes visitors, mainly from the retail sector.

The office has an open atmosphere with contemporary, atelier-like workplaces and presentation rooms. Thanks in part to the use of natural materials and a clean-cut finish, the Japanese identity of ASICS can also be recognized in the interior.

Healthy building

An important value of the ASICS office in Hoofddorp is a healthy, sporty working environment. For example, use of the lift is discouraged by an invitingly positioned, continuous cascade staircase. While a central, transparent roofed atrium ensures a high degree of daylight penetration.

There are also fitness rooms with showers to be found in the building. And the company restaurant doesn’t serve fried food, only healthy options.

Sustainable neighbourliness

The building is located immediately next to the sustainable TNT GREEN-Office, designed by Paul de Ruiter. While retaining its own individuality, the ASICS building is looking for as much synergy as possible with its neighbour. In this way, the buildings form a unified landscape. They also both use a bio-cogeneration system to provide their own energy for cooling and heating.
