Area development TU Delft Campus South starts construction logistics and Environment building

cepezed

Yesterday afternoon, the first pile for the Logistics and Environment facility was ceremoniously struck. Not only was this a start of the new building, it was also the beginning of the further development of TU Delft Campus Zuid 'into a dynamic environment with new facilities for education and research', according to TU Delft.

indispensable
“Logistics and Environment is an essential part of TU Delft, now and in the future. This department is literally the resource for facilitating all research and education on campus,” Mariën van der Meer, Vice President Operations/Member of the TU Delft Executive Board, said at the striking of the first pile. That is because the Logistics and Environment Department facilitates the procurement, storage and distribution of laboratory supplies, chemicals and gases used in TU Delft laboratories.

sustainability
The ambitions are high in terms of sustainability. Both the building and its integration are designed to be nature-inclusive and climate-adaptive. The curved roofs are covered with full vegetation that matches the biodiversity of the surrounding polder landscape in terms of both flora and fauna. The fencing is largely invisible through large corten steel sliding gates and overgrown biodiverse slopes, with the security boundary incorporated into the building.

new building
The new building is also made of renewable and recycled materials as much as possible. Lots of glass provides an open look and optimal daylight onto the workplace. The new Logistics and Environment building will be even more sustainable due to the solar panels on the roof, some of which will be reused from the current accommodation.

tu delft campus south
Logistics and Environment is one of the buildings on the TU Delft Campus South that cepezed designed. In the coming years, the campus will be further developed with the construction of the House of Quantum and QuTech. The existing cepezed buildings in this area are Oldelft, Applikon, Yes!Delft and 3M.
